Red Pocket Mobile came out with some new and updated phone plans today.  The multi-carrier MVNO is now offering an unlimited everything plan with the first 8GB of data at 4G LTE data speeds for $40/month.  The data allotment is good on Red Pocket Mobile's GSMA and CDMAS network partners, which can be deciphered to be AT&T and Sprint.  Those who want the plan on its CDMA (Verizon) or GSMT (T-Mobile) network partners will be limited to the first 5GB of data at 4G LTE data speeds.

Red Pocket Mobile, Updated Plans With Changes Highlighted

Red Pocket Mobile is selling 6 plans directly through its website.  The plans are in addition to what the company sells exclusively through eBay and Amazon.  The new and updated plans are as follows.

  • $10/month - 500 minutes, 500 texts,  500MB of hard capped data.  Works on any network.
  • $15/month - 1,000 minutes, unlimited texts, 1GB of hard capped data.  Works on any network.  Previously included 1,000 text messages.
  • $19/month - unlimited talk and text, 1GB of hard capped data.  Works on any network.  Previously came with 500MB of data.
  • $30/month ($35 w/o autopay)- unlimited everything with the first 5GB of data at 4G LTE data speeds on your choice of the Sprint and AT&T networks.  If on Verizon or T-Mobile, 3GB of data is available at 4G LTE data speeds.
  • $40/month ($45 w/o autopay) - unlimited everything with the first 8GB of data at 4G LTE data speeds on your choice of the Sprint and AT&T networks.  If on Verizon or T-Mobile, 5GB of data is available at 4G LTE data speeds.
  • $60/month ($65 w/o autopay) - unlimited everything with the first 12GB of data at 4G LTE data speeds on your choice of the Sprint and AT&T networks.  If on Verizon or T-Mobile, 10GB of data is available at 4G LTE data speeds.  Previously 12GB of LTE data was limited to the AT&T network.

Red Pocket Mobile has eliminated a plan priced at $25/month that included unlimited talk and text with 1.5GB of hard capped LTE data.

Taxes and fees cost extra and are not included in the prices shown.  Mobile hotspot is supported on all networks.  However, there are limitations depending on which phone and network you subscribe to.  On the AT&T network, hotspot is available on Android but not on iOS devices.  On the Verizon network, hotspot is only officially supported on iOS but not Android.  Hotspot is supported on both Android and iOS devices if used on the Sprint or T-Mobile networks.

International calling to over 70 countries is included with all plans and on all networks.

Editor's Take

Red Pocket Mobile plans were already priced competitively before the changes.  Outside of Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile, there really aren't any cheaper talk, text and data plan providers on the Verizon network to offer at least 1GB of data.  The new $40 plan with 8GB of data now matches AT&T prepaid in value at that price point.  You can see for yourself how Red Pocket Mobile's plans compare to the rest of the competition by using the phone plan finder search tool.
