Walmart Family Mobile is getting new life as a Verizon Value brand. Like other brands in the Verizon Value portfolio, it has been refreshed with updated plans, new free and discounted phone offers, and a revamped color scheme. While blue and yellow still remain the brand's colors, the updated palette has them significantly darker. There's also a new lower starting price point of $19.88/month for a hotspot capable plan with 4GB of high-speed data before throttling. Previously, the starting price point was $24.88/month for a plan with 5GB of high-speed data.
Walmart Family Mobile has also launched "Family Mobile Peace of Mind." The Peace of Mind initiative allows Walmart Family Mobile customers under temporary financial distress to stay connected with unlimited talk and incoming texts for $1/month.
Walmart Family Mobile's Updated Phone Plans
Aside from the new lower starting price point, there have been some other plan changes. Here are the additional updates:
- $24.88/month ($23.88 with autopay) - 8GB of high-speed data up from 5GB.
- $34.88/month ($33.88 with autopay) - new plan and price point, 20GB of 5G data, 8GB hotspot and unlimited calls to Mexico and Canada.
- $39.88 plan – Previously included 40GB of data and 10GB hotspot, but has been discontinued with no direct replacement.
- $69.76/month 2-line plan – Reduced from $74.76/month. Offers truly unlimited 5G data, unlimited calls to Mexico and Canada, and 30GB of hotspot, up from 10GB.
The $49.88/month plan ($47.88 with autopay) remains unchanged and still includes truly unlimited 5G data with 30GB of hotspot and calling to Mexico and Canada.
All plans still lack any priority data, unlike other Verizon Value brands including Straight Talk and Total Wireless. Video streaming is limited to a resolution of 480p. They do not include 5G Ultra-Wideband (UW) coverage or at least 5G UW data speeds. Taxes and fees cost extra.
Family Mobile Peace of Mind Eligibility Details
The Peace of Mind plan is available to existing customers who:
- Were active on a $19.88/month or higher plan for at least three consecutive months.

Eligible customers will receive a text notification and can opt into the $1/month plan. It includes unlimited talk and incoming texts only. Each account can use the plan up to six times per year, and only one Peace of Mind plan can be active per customer account at a time.
Free Phone Offers

With the rebrand, Walmart locations are promoting new phone deals through in-store signage to highlight them. Offers include:

Editor's Take
A carrier owned prepaid brand dropping its starting price to less than $20/month is a good thing for consumers, although Walmart Family Mobile's plan isn't particularly competitive in the overall prepaid and MVNO market space. There are plenty of prepaid and MVNO providers offering a lot more data at the $19.88/month (and even lower) price points including another brand sold at Walmart, MobileX. MobileX at Walmart offers a 10GB plan for $14.88/month.
The lack of real support for 5G UW data speeds and no priority data are also disappointing. Other Verizon Value brands at Walmart including Total Wireless and Straight Talk Wireless both offer at least some plans with priority data and 5G UW.
Customers seeking a truly unlimited 5G data plan at the store will find better value by signing up for Total Wireless's mid-tier unlimited data plan for $50/month after autopay billing. It includes 5G UW coverage, priority data, Canada and Mexico roaming, international roaming, 6 months of DISNEY+, and hotspot data usage. It will be at a slightly cheaper price for some customers given that Total's plan includes taxes and fees while Walmart Family Mobile's $47.88/month plan does not. A Walmart+ membership should probably be included with Walmart Family Mobile at this price point to make it a more compelling deal.
Walmart Family Mobile still brings some value to consumers in stores by offering discounted or free phones with lower barriers of entry given the plans required to get them are on the cheaper side compared to some other brand offers.
