Tello Mobile has reached a new milestone. The Sprint MVNO announced in a blog post that it has crossed the 100,000 active subscriber threshold. The announcement comes at a time when Tello is celebrating its 4 year anniversary. To celebrate its anniversary the company is offering all new subscribers a $15 account credit. The account credit can be combined with Tello's double data and talk promo that gives all new and current subscribers double data and talk to help them cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tello's $15 Anniversary Account Credit Details
This offer is valid for new subscribers only. Prospective customers have until May 19th to take Tello up on the offer. Those that signup for a Tello Mobile plan will instantly get a $15 account credit that can be used to pay for their phone bill in the next month or apply it towards the purchase of a new phone. Tello's double data and talk offer that the $15 account credit can be combined with runs until May 29th.
Tello Mobile is promoting the new offer by highlighting their $14/month phone plan. The plan normally includes unlimited talk, text, and data with the first 2GB of data each month at high-speeds before throttling to 2G data speeds. However, through the limited time offer, customers will get their first 4GB of data for their first month of service at high-speed. Of course, this example offer doesn't include double talk as the plan already has unlimited minutes. One plan that does come with double talk and data is priced at $8/month. Normally the plan includes 500 minutes, unlimited texting, and unlimited data with the first 500MB of data each month at high-speeds before throttling. The promotional offer will give subscribers on the plan 1,000 minutes, and 1GB of data to use with their first month of service. After the first month, the plan will revert back to its regular allotments.
Tello Mobile's phone plans do not include taxes and regulatory fees, they cost extra. All plans with data do allow for mobile hotspot usage. All plans with voice allow for calling to Canada, Mexico, China, and Romania at no extra charge. Minutes are deducted from the subscriber's plan just like they would be for calling domestically. Subscribers with unlimited talk plans will have unlimited talk to those countries.
Most MVNOs do not disclose their subscriber counts, and most are believed to have under 100k subscribers. The fact that Tello reached that milestone is a significant accomplishment and a testament to the value that they bring to their customers. Tello does offer some of the cheapest pay by the month phone plans on the market.
