Red Pocket has just announced a new limited time offer as well as some upgrades to its current cell phone plan lineup.
Limited Time Offer
Red Pocket has notified me that for a limited time they will be offering the following plan:
- $30/month ($35 without auto pay)- Unlimited talk, text and data with the first 2.5 GB (previously 1 GB) at full LTE speeds as well as unlimited international calling to over 70 countries.
The plan is available on all 4 major wireless networks in the USA. That means if you have an out of contract AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon phone, you can bring it over to Red Pocket and use it with it's compatible network.
Red Pocket says no matter which network you use, you will have access to it's LTE data pipeline at full speed with the exception of Verizon where speeds are limited to 5 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload.
This offer compares favorably to other plans in that price range, and you can see for yourself by visiting this table of the cheapest cell phone plans. In particular, the plan is competitively priced if you need service on the Verizon network. On the AT&T side, it's pretty close to plans that were just announced by H2O Wireless and Pure TalkUSA although unlike H2O Wireless who just announced that it is throttling LTE download speeds, Red Pocket will not be throttling LTE download speeds.
In addition to the limited time offer, Red Pocket has announced a couple of other plan changes.
Red Pocket's Updated Phone Plans
- $45/month - Unlimited talk, text and data with the first 5 GB (previously 3 GB) at full LTE speeds as well as unlimited international calling to over 70 countries
- $60/month - Unlimited talk, text and data with the first 8 GB (previously 5 GB) at full LTE speeds as well as unlimited international calling to over 70 countries
The updated phone plans are also available on all 4 major wireless networks in the USA.
These two updated phone plans still have room for improvement as we're starting to see unlimited LTE data plans appear at the $45 price point. One area where they may be of value is if you need coverage on Verizon's network and need to make a lot of international phone calls. There are very few providers that use the Verizon network that also offer international calling.
