The Motorola Razr 2023 is being carried and heavily discounted by three carrier owned prepaid brands, Boost Mobile (DISH), Metro by T-Mobile, and AT&T's Cricket Wireless. Verizon Wireless is the only major carrier to not offer the device at a deep discount through one of its prepaid brands. Verizon typically doesn't offer as wide a selection of free or deeply discounted devices through its prepaid brands like the other carriers do, so this isn't surprising.
Motorola released the Razr 2023 days ago and it officially began shipping through Motorola on October 20th. It has a list price of $699.99. As previously reported by BestMVNO, its release is notable as it's the first ever foldable phone to be carried by Cricket Wireless.
How Much Is It?
Cricket Wireless
Cricket Wireless is offering it for $199.99 to both customers who port a number in AND to customers who get a new number. It also requires subscribers to sign up for Cricket's most expensive plan, a $60/month unlimited plan. A service payment for the first month is due at signup. However, customers can switch to a cheaper plan for month two if they'd like. Current customers can get the phone for $299.99 but a $25 upgrade fee is required.
The Razr is on sale and available both online and in stores. No word on how long the discount will be offered. Customers who purchase the phone from Cricket will have to keep it on the network for six months before they can request it to be unlocked.
Boost Mobile
Boost Mobile also will have it at a nice discount. New customers that switch their number to Boost Mobile in store will get the device for $199.99. They'll also receive a $100 account credit paid out in four $25 credits in months three through six. The $100 account credit will require customers to prepay for their first two months of service.
New and current Boost Mobile customers can also get the device for $199.99 but will not receive the $100 account credit. This offer will be available both online and in stores. However, at the time of this writing, Boost Mobile does not yet have the phone on its website. Discounted pricing is scheduled to be available at least until 1/2/24. Update: Boost Mobile now has a page on its website for the 2023 Razr.
The Motorola Razr 2023 is being marketed by Boost Mobile as being compatible with its native network, the Boost Wireless Network, which it also refers to as America's Smart Network.
Motorola Razr's purchased through Boost Mobile will remain locked to the network for no more than one year after activation.
Metro by T-Mobile
Metro by T-Mobile is offering the device for as low as $99.99. To get it at this price, customers must switch to Metro by T-Mobile in store and sign up for a plan priced $45/month or higher. The device discount will come by way of an instant rebate of $350 off the full retail price of $549.99 that Metro is listing it at. An additional $100 will be returned to the customer by way of a Virtual Prepaid Mastercard after their third month of wireless service on a plan priced $45 or higher. The offer is unavailable to customers currently active on T-Mobile or active on Metro by T-Mobile in the past 180 days.
Customers that don't want to port their number can get it for $359.99 with a new number. This offer is available both online and in stores. Online it will require customers to subscribe to a plan priced $40 or higher. In stores customers will have to sign up for the $65 plan and will have to present their IDs. The device will remain locked to Metro by T-Mobile until 180 days after activation on the network.
