After a reader inquiry, BestMVNO has learned that Unreal Mobile is now offering premium voice service with its wireless plans. The move was confirmed to BestMVNO by representatives from Red Pocket Mobile. Unreal Mobile and Freedompop were purchased by Red Pocket Mobile last summer and this is the first major change that the company has made with either brand.
A company spokesperson has told BestMVNO that all current customers will soon be transitioned to premium voice SIMs which will offer the same native calling and texting experience that current Red Pocket Mobile GSMA customers experience. Red Pocket's GSMA subscribers have service on AT&T's network.
Customers currently with Unreal Mobile will soon receive an email from the company informing them about the new SIM that is going to be sent to them and how to transition to it. With the new SIM, customers will no longer be required to install or use the Unreal Mobile app to place phone calls. All new customers will receive the new premium voice SIM card by default. The feature upgrade will come without a pricing change.
For those that don't know, Unreal Mobile had operated over the years by providing voice services through the use of the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). VoIP phone calls have often been criticized by users for offering a subpar calling experience. Critics say VoIP can induce voice lag where one person speaks and the other person can't hear what has been said without there first being a slight delay in the audio transmission. When I reviewed Unreal Mobile, my calling experience was pretty poor due to the use of VoIP. I experienced audio quality that was garbled and frequently dropped. So the addition of calling that uses AT&T's native voice network should be welcomed by all customers.

Can someone tell me how to get the $10 a month plan?
I got my UnrealMobile SIM and have been having trouble doing my number transfer for over a week. I have my account and it says $10 a month, but UnrealMobile.com NOW SAYS $15.00 a month. Looks like they have already raised their base monthly price. I do not know what I am getting into.
I just received the e-mail but it looks like they’re charging you $10.99 ($10 for the plan, $0.99 for the setup fee) even with an existing account. =/
