Straight Talk Wireless has made a change to one of its wireless plans. The $35 plan now includes 5GB of high-speed data. This is up from its previous allotment of 3GB. Gilbert Lopez first noted the change at a local Walmart a week ago. The plan is finally live on Straight Talk Wireless's website but is only visible on its homepage. Besides the 5GB of high-speed data, the plan also includes unlimited talk, text, and data with data at 2G data speeds after the high-speed allotment gets consumed.
Straight Talk Wireless is one of several brands owned by Tracfone. One of those other brands is Total Wireless. Total Wireless just updated its $35 plan about a week ago to include unlimited 2G data with 5GB of data at high-speed. The Straight Talk and Total Wireless $35 plans now mirror each other. Both are available at Walmart and both operate on Verizon Wireless with Total Wireless operating exclusively on that network. Straight Talk also operates on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. There is one big difference to note between the two mirrored plans. Total Wireless's plan allows for mobile hotspot usage, Straight Talk's does not. So Total Wireless will be a better value for some at this price point.
Straight Talk's Mother's Day 2020 Sale
In addition to the plan update, Straight Talk is also pushing a couple of phone deals for Mother's Day alongside the tagline "The Perfect Mother's Day Gift Is Calling." The phones being offered include the Samsung Galaxy A20 for $119.99. The price is marked down from its regular price of $179.99. The Samsung Galaxy A10e is also marked down to $59.99 from $99.99. The sale is scheduled to end on 5/31/2020 or while supplies last.
Keep in mind, if you do buy one or both of these two phones they will be locked to the Straight Talk Wireless network for a period of one year. After one year of use on the network, they can be unlocked for use on another network. Sometimes with a little bit of pushing, Tracfone brands will allow you to rebrand their phones immediately after purchasing for use with another Tracfone brand. So if you bought one of these two phones you may be able to use them with Total Wireless if you contact Total Wireless and push them to rebrand the phone to Total Wireless.
One other deal that continues to be featured by Straight Talk is the iPhone 7 for $199.99, down from $249.99. The iPhone SE 2020 is also discounted to $349.99 down from $399.99.
