AT&T Prepaid continues to push into the multi-month plan market. Last summer the brand launched an annual plan for $25/month plus tax that included 8GB of monthly high-speed data. Just a few weeks ago a dealer exclusive 3-month plan was announced. That plan has an average cost of $40/month and includes 12GB of monthly high-speed data. Now there's another 3-month discount plan available direct through the AT&T Prepaid website. The plan is the same as AT&T Prepaid's $50 plan ($40 with autopay) that includes unlimited everything with the first 8GB of data available each month at high-speeds. Customers who signup for the plan 3-month in advance can now get it for $99 or an average cost of $33/month, taxes and fees are extra and vary by location.
AT&T Prepaid's New 3-Month Discount Plan Offer Fine Print
This plan doesn't have a ton of new fine print here, but there are still some new things you'll want to know. This is an online-only offer, and it cannot be combined with device offers. Three months of wireless service is considered to be 90 days. Every 30 days plan features such as the high-speed data allotment renew. The $99 service rate, once paid, is NOT refundable. The next service payment is due by 11:59 PM CST on the 90th day of service. This plan is not eligible for autopay discounts. AT&T does not specify if there's a multi-line discount available, but all plans priced $30 or higher are supposed to be multi-line discount eligible.
Plan Details
Besides the service features already discussed, the plan also includes service usage while traveling in Mexico and Canada at no extra charge. That means you can use your talk, text, and data in either country. International roaming data usage may be reduced to 2G speeds. Unlimited texting to over 100 countries is also included.
Once the plan's 8GB highs-speed data allotment gets depleted, speeds are reduced to 128Kbps. Subscribers can, however, add more data to their plans for additional charges of 1GB for $10 or 3GB for $20. Add-on data does not carry over to the next 30-day service cycle. Unused data as part of the plan's 8GB monthly allotment does rollover for one service cycle.
By default, AT&T's Stream Saver is enabled which conserves data by limiting video streams to a maximum speed of 1.5Mbps or a resolution of about 480p. Stream Saver can be disabled to access full HD 1080p video streams.
Sponsored data is also included with the plan. Select streams and content that are sponsored and consumed while on AT&T's domestic network do not count against the subscriber's 8GB high-speed data cap. Subscribers will be notified when the content they are consuming is sponsored.
AT&T Prepaid has not specified how long the offer will be available. It could be a permanent offering.
