About a month ago Walmart Family Mobile increased the amount of data that it included with several of its cell phone plans. Today, while doing some work updating the family plans that are covered by BestMVNO.com, I noticed that Walmart's Family Mobile plans have even more data than they did just a couple of weeks ago.
A summary of Walmart's updated phone plans with the changes highlighted are as follows:
- $29.88 - 3 GB of high speed data, up from 2 GB
- $39.88 - 6 GB of high speed data, up from 5 GB
- $49.99 - 15 GB of high speed data, up from 13 GB. Bonus, get a free $7 VUDU movie rental credit each time you renew this plan.
Walmart Family Mobile's other cell phone phone plan, priced at $24.88, remains unchanged and includes 1 GB of high speed data. The MVNO provides service through T-Mobile.
All of Walmart's Family Mobile plans include unlimited talk, text and data with the specified amount at 4G LTE speeds. After the plans high speed data gets used up in a month, speeds are reduced to 2G or about 64 kbps.
This is yet another provider who has recently added more data to its plans. In the past couple of weeks Straight Talk Wireless, H2O Wireless, and Pure TalkUSA have all announced that their phone plans would include more data at no extra cost. All of these plan changes that benefit the consumer are due to the trickle down effect largely caused by the major wireless carriers pushing all in on unlimited LTE data.
What's your take on Walmart Family Mobile's new cell phone plans? For me it looks like I'll have to start updating the definitive guide to cheap cell phone plans, a lot sooner than I thought!
Has the amount tetherable been increased, also?
