More About TextNow
TextNow is an MVNO that provides cellular service using both the T-Mobile and Sprint networks. The company claims to be the world's first cloud-based phone carrier, as its technology allows for phone calls and texts to be placed preferentially over WiFi with a fallback to the parent network's data and cellular pipelines. The technology is similar in function to how competing platforms from Republic Wireless and Google Project Fi work.

very interesting. I like the starter plan. Is there a need for an app to use their service instead of my phone’s dialer?
iPhones supported when it comes to switching between T-Mobile and Sprint towers depending on which reception is the strongest at the time?
Do a certain percentage of calls and txt have to be made over wifi each month?
The starter plan would be interesting to try.
You have to use their app. Only Android phones allow you to use your native dialer, but you still need to download an app for that. No calls or texts are required to be made over WiFi each month. The service doesn’t work exactly like Fi. You can only get service with one carrier network, it does not switch between the two. It only switches between WiFi, cellular data and voice depending on which is best. AFAIK, the voice switching is only available if you buy one of their phones.
Thanks for the info Joe. Still great to see several MVNOs still striving in the market. I am definitely in no rush to head back to any of the big four even when they offer promos. The fine print always gets one.
I am hoping Fi steps up their game with allowing iPhones on their network but I am not holding my breath.
I would like to see AV step up their game with their outdated plans.
I had no issues with AV and never had to call in for anything. However, they haven’t paid the blackmail fee Apple is asking for when it comes to MMS settings in iOS. Jailbreaking is pretty much dead now with extra steps Apple has put in place. Darn Apple I say!
