A new report issued by the subscription-based firm Wave7 Research has indicated that Straight Talk Wireless is now in full swing with its tax season promos. Straight Talk has launched a new TV commercial featuring one of its tax time offers, a Samsung Galaxy A51 for $199. There's also a new matching radio ad airing with mention of the same deal. The Tracfone-owned brand now has its massive Tax Time Wow Displays (pictured above) up in select Walmart stores nationwide. The displays pop up annually, are designed to look like cellphone towers, and highlight Straight Talk's in-store phone deals. On 2/15/21, Straight Talk began to offer 90-days of free streaming from Pandora Premium with the purchase of its $45 plan.

Straight Talk's Tax Season Phone Promos Highlighted

Straight Talk has launched into its tax season offers by pushing three Android phone deals and a $149 iPhone SE. The three Android phone deals now featured on the Straight Talk Wireless homepage include:

  • Samsung Galaxy A21 - $99, regular price $249
  • Samsung Galaxy A10e - $69.99, down from $99.99
  • Samsung Galaxy A51 - $199.99, down from $399.99

The iPhone SE and the Samsung Galaxy phones sans the A10e are also all featured in Walmart stores through Tax Time Wow Displays. On displays in place of the A10e is an offer for a $59 Samsung Galaxy A01.

The Samsung Galaxy phone deals are scheduled to be available until 3/31/21 or while supplies last. The iPhone SE offer is just listed as being available "while supplies last." The offers are available to both new customers and current customers looking to upgrade. They are available both in-store at Walmart and online at Walmart and through Straight Talk's website. Walmart is also advertising the Moto G Power for $129 (reg. $179) and LG Stylo 5 for $99 (reg. $199) as tax time deals. The phones are also available with the same discounts from Straight Talk.

Customers that purchase one of the phones with Straight Talk's $45 plan with 25GB of high-speed data will also get a free 90-day subscription to Pandora Premium, a $9.99/month value. The free Pandora Premium subscription is scheduled to be available until 5/15/21.

New Straight Talk Commercial: Tune Out The Nonsense And Tune Into Straight Talk

Straight Talk's newest TV commercial launched on 2/8. Wave7 Research reports that it has since aired hundreds of times on networks such as FX and Investigation Discovery, while I've recently seen it on NBC. The commercial can also be found playing on televisions in Walmart.

The new commercial, as usual, features a voiceover from Ed O'Neil announcing "it's time for some Straight Talk." He goes on to say that tax returns could look a little different this year and asks viewers to tune out the big carriers when they try and get you "to splurge on the latest nonsense." Instead, viewers are told to only go with the best deals and that with Straight Talk you can get a Samsung Galaxy A51 for $199 plus an unlimited plan (with 25GB of high-speed data) for just $45/month. You can watch the full commercial down below.

Straight Talk Wireless is a Tracfone owned brand that runs primarily on the Verizon network and currently has just over 9.6 million subscribers. Back in September of 2020, Verizon Wireless agreed to acquire Tracfone and all of its associated brands including Straight Talk Wireless from América Móvil for up to $6.9 billion. The deal is pending regulatory approval.
