Red Pocket Mobile has come out with a new plan for low usage users that is really hard to beat. For just $60 per year, subscribers can get 100 minutes, 100 text messages and 500 MB of data to use each month. Red Pocket Mobile uses all 4 major wireless networks in the USA, which include AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. This means that subscribers can sign up for the plan and use the network of their choosing.
It is important to note that for now, if you choose the Verizon plan, your speeds will be limited to 5 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. I say "for now" because there has been a rumor going around for weeks that Verizon may lift the speed limit that it places on its MVNO's, however I have not been able to get any MVNO to confirm if this is something that has happened or will happen.
Another important think to note is that if you have an iPhone and want to use it with Red Pocket AT&T, be aware that you may not be able to get MMS working due to the reasons outline here.
This plan is available exclusively through eBay. It is not sold through the Red Pocket website. Similarly, Red Pocket offers a plan for $21.25/month that includes 3 GB of data exclusively through Amazon.
They may even steal some customers from Tracfone!
That’s better than tello, where $5 will get you 100 min, 200 texts and ZERO data.
Sure, as long as you don’t mind paying for service a year in advance. This really isn’t a whole lot of money to risk though if something went wrong.
