Net10 Wireless is now selling two annual plans exclusively through eBay. The plans are both listed as being available for a limited time.
1GB Data Plan
The cheaper of the two plans being offered includes unlimited talk, text, and data with the first 1GB of data each month at 4G LTE speeds. Net10 has priced the plan at $199.99 which works out to an average cost of $16.67/month.
5GB Data Plan
The more expensive plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data with the first 5GB of data each month at 4G LTE speeds. This plan is priced at $239.99 or an average costs of $20/month.
Both plans allow subscribers to choose which underlying network they'd like to use the plan with before purchasing it. Available networks include AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Both plans are also sold with pre-loaded SIM cards.
Editor's Take
Net10 Wireless has traditionally sold phone plans that allow subscribers to use any of the major 4 wireless networks in America. It's interesting to note that with these two eBay exclusive plans, Sprint isn't listed as an available MVNO partner network.
Another thing that jumps out to me is that these plans seem to most directly compete with offerings from Red Pocket Mobile, SpeedTalk Mobile, and Mint Mobile.
Red Pocket also sells an eBay exclusive annual plan with 5GB of monthly LTE data. It's priced exactly the same as the newly announced offering from Net10 at $20/month. The Red Pocket plan does differ from Net10's in that it is available for use on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile but not Verizon. It also differs by including unlimited international calling. Of course, if you need service on the T-Mobile network, Mint Mobile provides the best value for an annual plan. The T-Mobile powered MVNO offers 8GB of data at the same $20/month rate.
At the $16 and change per month price point, there are some better options out there for an annual plan than Net10's offering. Particularly if service on the T-Mobile network is needed.
Mint Mobile and SpeedTalk Mobile both offer subscribers a better value by price. Mint Mobile has an annual plan priced at $180 that works out to an average cost of $15/month for 3GB of monthly LTE data with unlimited talk and text. SpeedTalk Mobile's eBay exclusive plan includes unlimited talk and text with 2GB of monthly LTE data for $160 or an average cost of just $13.33/month.
Is the data hard capped on the Net 10 plans & Red Pocket competitors discussed in the article above?
