MobileX is running a 50% off promotion this month exclusively through its dealer channel. Customers can get MobileX's $50 unlimited plan, which includes 50GB of QCI 8 premium priority data at up to 5G UW speeds, for just $25/month with taxes and fees included. However, there's a catch—you have to prepay $75 for your first three months of service.
Being an MVNO, MobileX cannot offer truly unlimited data plans like carrier-owned prepaid brands can. However, their flagship dealer plan offers additional features not available with all carrier flanker prepaid brands. It includes 15GB of mobile hotspot, 5G UW coverage, and unlimited talk and text to over 90 countries—a feature newly added this month. International roaming for $10/day is also a newly available add-on. Video streaming is limited to 480p resolution, and data speeds are reduced to 512Kbps after surpassing the 50GB monthly high-speed allotment.
MobileX has three dealer-exclusive plans that differ from what you can find in their direct-to-consumer offerings and at Walmart, which also carries the brand. The dealer plans are the only MobileX plans that include all taxes and fees, and there's an additional $50 unlimited plan. MobileX's online and Walmart plans top out at 30GB for $24.88/month. The dealer-only unlimited plans with a comparison to their direct to consumer counterpart plans are shown below:
- 5GB 5G data with hotspot - $20/month through dealer, $14.88 through the MobileX app and Walmart but taxes and fees are extra
- 30GB 5G data with 10GB hotspot - $30/month through dealer, $24.88 through MobileX app and Walmart but taxes and fees are extra and you can use all of your data for hotspot instead of having a 10GB limit
- 50GB 5G data with 15GB hotspot - $50/month, dealer-exclusive plan
The $30 and $50 plans both include international calling and texting.
A Promo Out of Necessity?
This offer mirrors a Verizon Prepaid promo lauched last month with the exact same requirements. Customers who buy a Verizon Prepaid plan through an independent dealer and prepay $75 for the first three months of service can get an unlimited plan for $25/month for one year.
Peter Adderton, MobileX's CEO and founder, is never one to shy away from competition but likely matched this Verizon Prepaid deal out of necessity. Verizon prepaid brands, including Total Wireless, Straight Talk, and Verizon Prepaid, have launched an onslaught of recent promos attacking the $25/month price point. Adderton posted on X that MVNOs have to match these offers from carrier prepaid brands or risk becoming irrelevant. He also contends that the carriers must provide their MVNOs with the tools to be competitive or there's no point in their existence.

How widespread this offer is remains unclear as there doesn't appear to be a way to find MobileX dealer locations online. It was only in February of this year that MobileX issued a press release stating that it was expanding its dealer program and another press release at the end of August announced improvements to its dealer program.
This promo is scheduled to run through at least 9/30/24.
