Yesterday, T-Mobile's prepaid brand MetroPCS announced a limited time offer consisting of 4 lines of unlimited data for $100. Today, Sprint responded by announcing that its prepaid brand Boost Mobile will offer customers 5 lines of unlimited data for $100/month. Both offers include taxes and fees in the price.
Besides including unlimited data, Boost Mobile's plan also includes unlimited talk and text as well as 50 domestic roaming minutes.
Like all unlimited data plans, there is a data prioritization policy in place. Those that consume more than 23 GB of high speed data in a month may have their speeds temporarily reduced during times of heavy network traffic. Video streams are limited to a resolution of 480p+, music at up to 500Kbps, and gaming streams are limited to a maximum 2Mbps. Sprint's press release did not mention if Mobile hotspot is included.
The 5 lines for $100 offer is set to expire on 11/30/17. To qualify for the offer, one line must be a port in from a non Sprint related carrier. All other lines must be port ins or new lines. Existing customers are not eligible for the promotion.
Like the MetroPCS offer, Boost Mobile will also be giving away free phones to those who make the switch.
Advertised free phones include the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge, LG Tribute HD and Motorola Moto E. The free phone offer will only be available until 11/2/2017. A port in is required to qualify for the free phone.
The free phone and 5 lines for $100 offer both appear to be available in store only.
