Verizon Prepaid launched a new offer today. Subscribers activating a new line of service can now get a free month of service. But there is a catch. Unlike with many other providers where customers get a free month in their first or second month of service, Verizon is holding off on the free month until the third month. So signup with Verizon Prepaid today and get your third month free. 🙄
This offer is scheduled to end on 4/30/2021. It is not available through all sales channels, but it is at least available online. Customers that activate a new phone, tablet, or jetpack plan will qualify for the deal. The offer is available with all plans and to both customers that have their own phones to bring and those that purchase one from Verizon Prepaid.
All Verizon Prepaid phone plans now include 5G network access. However, only the most expensive plan, the $75 plan, includes support for Ultra Wideband (UW). Customers in an area serviced by Verizon's Ultra Wideband network and with a compatible 5G UW device may be able to experience download speeds greater than 1Gbps. However, for plans and areas serviced by Verizon's slower nationwide 5G network customers can expect to experience data speeds similar to 4G LTE.
Verizon's most expensive unlimited $75 phone plan includes unlimited talk, text, and high-speed data. It also includes talk, text, and data usage to and from Mexico and Canada. Data while traveling internationally is limited to the first 0.5GB/day at high-speeds before throttling to 2G data speeds. International texting to over 200 countries is also included.
Customers in a 5G Ultra Wideband area will be able to stream in 4K UHD, and get unlimited mobile hotspot. When on the 5G or 4G LTE nationwide networks, videos stream at 480p, and hotspot is limited to the first 10GB each month at high-speeds before throttling to 600Kbps for the remainder of the billing cycle.
All Verizon Prepaid plans include autopay and loyalty discounts. With autopay enabled on the $75 plan, the price drops down to $70 for the second month of service. With autopay and loyalty discounts, for months 4-9 the price is reduced to $65/month, and beyond that the price drops to $60/month.
Verizon's other prepaid plans are described in brief below:
- $40/month ($25) - 5GB high-speed data plus mobile hotspot
- $50/month ($35) - 15GB high-speed data plus mobile hotspot and calling to Mexico and Canada
- $65 ($50) - unlimited high-speed data, add mobile hotspot for $5/month, talk, text, and data to and from Canada and Mexico. No 5G UW support
The pricing in parenthesis is the price you pay when the maximum loyalty discounts kick-in at 10-months and with autopay. Unlimited talk and text is of course included with every plan. Plans with high-speed data caps get unlimited data at 2G data speeds once the high-speed data limit is exceeded.
Verizon Prepaid had been offering $60 account credits to bring your own device customers. The free month offer is a replacement for that.
