Tello is about to launch a new promotion. I suspect the cat has been let out of the bag a little early on this one. Prepaid Phone News posted the offer today which does not start for another week. It stands to reason that a provider normally wouldn't want such a promotion out in the open early as it could delay subscriber signups and lower margins for them. As far as I can tell, Tello does not have the offer posted anywhere on their website or on social media. The offer is that new customers will be able to signup and get double the data on their plan for 6 months at no extra cost.
Offer Details
The exact time frame of the offer is not known. Prepaid Phone News has it listed from January 10th to January 16th. A source I have through an affiliate network has it listed as starting on January 9th at 9 PM and ending on January 16th at 8:59 PM. No time zone indicated. I have reached out to a representative from Tello for more clarification. (Update 1/8/19: Tello has confirmed the offer is from January 10th until January 16th. Update 2: The promotion has been extended until January 18th. )
With the promotion in place, customers will be able to signup for one of the following plans with the bonus data highlighted:
- $13/month -
500MB1GB of 4G LTE data - $14/month -
1GB2GB of 4G LTE data - $19/month -
2GB4GB of 4G LTE data - $24/month -
3GB6GB of 4G LTE data - $29/month -
4GB8GB of 4G LTE data - $39/month -
10GB20GB of 4G LTE data
All plans shown include unlimited talk, text, and data with the specified amount of data at high speed. Mobile hotspot is also included and draws from each plans high speed data allotment. Unlimited international calling to Mexico, Canada, and China is available at no extra cost. Taxes and fees cost extra. In my area taxes and fees amounted to $2.26 when I reviewed Tello's $24 plan.
Whatever plan you end up subscribing to, you will have to keep it for the entire 6 months if you want the bonus data allotment. If you switch plans you will lose the bonus data.
In the past, promotions from Tello have been limited to new subscribers only. That means if you previously had an account with Tello you could not take advantage of their offers. I don't expect this promotion to be structured any different.
