Last week, Charter Communications issued a press release announcing a new Spectrum Mobile offer: new subscribers can get an unlimited mobile line free for a year when bundled with a Spectrum Internet plan. To promote this offer, Spectrum Mobile has released a TV ad that launched around September 18th and has had a couple of hundred airings thus far. Spectrum Mobile in the past had used the free line deal as a customer retention offer. There was also previously a buy one line get one free for a year deal.
The cost of the free line plus home internet bundle is $50 per month for internet with download speeds of 500 Mbps and a phone plan with 30 GB of monthly high-speed 5G data. After exceeding the data limit on the phone plan, speeds are throttled to 1 Mbps download and 512 Kbps upload. The normal price of the phone plan is $30 per month, and regular bundle pricing after one year will be $100 per month.
The release also stated that there are other new and improved pricing bundles, a new marketing slogan 'Life Unlimited', and up to a 3-year price-lock guarantee. Subscribers can secure a longer-term price lock by bundling more services together, such as adding another mobile phone line to the base mobile phone line bundled with home internet offer.
Other announcements from the press release that pertain to Spectrum Mobile include:
- Whole dollar pricing, with taxes and fees included for all mobile service, and all internet service (excluding California and Texas customers)
- If you are not completely satisfied with any services within the first 30 days, Spectrum will you give you your money back
- If you purchase a mobile device from Spectrum and are not completely satisfied, you can return it for a refund within 14 days of purchase
According to BestMVNO's MVNO and carrier prepaid subscriber tracker, Spectrum Mobile now has 8.8 million subscribers. The free line offer is a good way to continue to grow that number.
Spectrum Mobile TV Spot Ad: 'Staying Connected to Your Passion'
Spectrum Mobile's new TV ad called 'Staying Connected to Your Passion,' features a women on a tablet exploring her creativity before she picks up her phone and leaves for a call. A voiceover declares that Spectrum understands the importance of "staying connected to your passions, work, and ideas." It explains that Spectrum offers a bundled internet and mobile phone plan to provide connectivity wherever your creativity takes you.
Viewers are then pitched that Spectrum Internet customers can now receive one line of unlimited mobile service included with their plan. Oddly, the ad omits the word "free" both on-screen and in the voiceover. The included mobile service comes by way of 12 monthly credits on the customer's bill statements.
Viewers are shown a number they can call to sign up for the bundle. The commercial ends with Spectrum's new logo displaying alongside their new tagline "Life Unlimited." You can watch this new ad below.
