T-Mobile announced yesterday that its prepaid brand MetroPCS will offer for a limited time an unlimited everything plan including unlimited 4G LTE data for $50 or $45 for a two or more family plan. The new plan comes with a serious stipulation though in that you must purchase a device from MetroPCS in order to be eligible. The promotion is not valid for those of you who want to BYOD. The selection of phones being offered is extremely limited, and only one is high end, the Samsung Galaxy S5. All other no contract phone options cost under $100. This promotion is scheduled to run until April 5th, and if you sign up for service before then you'll get to retain your $50 unlimited LTE data plan for however long you have service with MetroPCS. The MVNO also increased data on its other plans with no stipulations as follows
- $40/month for unlimited data, talk and text with 2GB of 4G LTE data (previously 1GB)
- $50/month for unlimited data, talk and text with 4GB of 4G LTE data (previously 3GB)
Since the limited time $50 a month for unlimited LTE data plan is so restrictive, I will not be adding it to my MVNO charts, but rather keep their regular pricing listed.
