Metro by T-Mobile is now offering a free month of tablet data. Of course, it comes with stipulations. Customers must add two months of tablet service to an existing Metro account to then be able to get a third month of service for free. Metro also continues to run its long-standing deal of a free Alcatel JOY TAB 2 which can be paired with the free month of tablet data offer.

Free Tablet Data Offer Details

The free tablet data offer is only available with Metro's $15/month unlimited high-speed data tablet plan with 480p video streaming. The tablet plan does not allow hotspot use. Metro also provides a $30/month unlimited high-speed data tablet plan with HD video streaming but that plan is not part of the free month deal. The tablet plans are deprioritized. Customers may notice reduced data speeds compared to other customers on the T-Mobile network at any time the network is congested. Data speeds may be further slowed during times of network congestion once more than 35GB of data has been consumed during a billing cycle.

The free month tablet data deal is not available as a stand-alone offer. Customers must add a tablet plan to an existing Metro phone plan to claim it. A $20 activation fee may apply and a limit of five free month offers can be claimed per account and only one offer can be redeemed per tablet.

This is an in-store only offer and no end date has been specified for it.

Metro's "Gift A Free Tablet" Deal

Metro by T-Mobile is offering its subscribers a free Alcatel JOY TAB 2 via rebate when they add an unlimited high-speed data tablet plan to any phone plan. The tablet has a list price of $119.99.

Customers will be given an instant rebate on the device based off of the full retail price of the tablet in the form of a $119.99 account credit. The tablet offer details are a bit confusing, but it seems the rebate credit can't be fully redeemed until after the customer's third month of payment on an unlimited data tablet plan. There is a limit of four total rebates allowed per account and household. Customers will still have to pay tax on the full retail price of the Alcatel JOY TAB 2.

The free tablet offer only appears to only be available to current Metro by T-Mobile customers with accounts older than 30 days. No end date for the deal has been specified.

The free tablet data offer is just one of many new deals and updates from Metro. In early May, BestMVNO reported that Metro again updated its $50 hotspot plan to include 100GB of data up from 50GB. Also in May, Metro began offering customers a free month of T-Mobile's 5G Home Internet. At the end of May, as shared with BestMVNO by Twitter's @TracfoneGuy and streamed by YouTube's Magic Tech Review, Metro once again began allowing new lines of service to purchase phones online. However, those porting to Metro still need to visit a store to get a phone.
