Lycamobile has just updated its phone plans. Several Lycamobile plans got feature downgrades. Wave7 Research noted the changes in a newsletter the firm recently sent out to its subscribers.
Lycamobile Plan Changes Highlighted
On September 16 Lycamobile made the following plan changes:
- The $50 "unlimited" data plan now comes with 40GB of data at up to 4G LTE data speeds. The plan previously offered 50GB of data at up to 4G LTE data speeds.
- The $23 3-month multi-month plan now comes with 3GB of 4G LTE data each month. This is a downgrade from the previous allotment of 4GB of 4G LTE data. It is available to new and existing customers. Customers who pay by the month only get 2GB of data with the plan.
- The $35 3-month multi-month plan no longer includes bonus data. It now includes 7GB of data each month at 4G LTE data speeds. Previously it offered 12GB of data at 4G LTE data speeds.
All plans just described come with unlimited talk and text domestically and unlimited talk and text to over 75 countries. Data is unlimited with each plan, with the specified amount of data available at 4G LTE data speeds before throttling to 2G. Taxes and fees are not included in the prices shown, they cost extra.
Lycamobile Available Promotions
Lycamobile has a few ongoing promotions. New online customers who pay for 6 months of service in advance on either the $29, $35, $39, or $50 plan will receive a free Samsung J3 or J2 phone. The $35 and $50 plans have already been described, the $29 plan includes similar features to those two plans but comes with 5GB of 4G LTE data before throttling to 2G data speeds. The $39 plan comes with 15GB of 4G LTE data before throttling.
New customers on the $29 plan can get 3 months of service for the price of 2. New and existing customers on the plan who pay for 3 months of service in advance can get 7GB of 4G LTE data each month instead of 5GB.
New and existing customers on Lycamobile's $19/month plan can get 2GB of 4G LTE data each month before throttling to 2G data speeds when they pay for service 3 months in advance. The pay by the month regular data allotment is 1GB. Like the other Lycamobile plans, it also comes with unlimited talk and text both domestically and internationally.
