For those of you that have been eyeing up FreedomPops's free phone service but have been turned off by the lack of phone selection or ability to bring your own device, well today I have some good news for you.  FreedomPop has announced that they will now allow many more BYOD devices onto their network.  The new list includes all iPads and iPhones.  Also newly allowed are the HTC's One V7, One M7 and Desire 510.  The LG G2, Nexus 5 and Volt as well as Samsung Galaxy Mega, Prevail, and Rush, and the Motorola Moto G highlight some of the newly allowed devices. A complete list of allowed devices can be found here. (UPDATE: 03/21/2015 - Sprint's new policies should allow FreedomPop to activate many more devices now.  More than what is officially listed on the above link for list of allowed devices.  So if you are interested in their service, and want to know if your phone works, don't hesitate to try due to what you see in the list.)

A bit to note.  If you are using their website to check your ESN or MEID you may at first be told your device is not allowed.  When I was previously testing out their service I had to enter the appropriate number several times before they told me service was available in my area and the device was allowed. I have a feeling at the time I was trying it out, since it was a beta service they may have randomly been allowing activations as opposed to allowing anyone to just sign up. It's also possible their system was experiencing a glitch. I assure all you readers out there I was not repeatedly making typos in entering those numbers.

So what do you think of FreedomPop opening up their service to more devices? Does that make you want to give their service a try now?
