Starting on Friday October 28th, Cricket Wireless will for a limited time increase the amount of data included with its $50 plan by 3 GB.  This means that the plan will include 8 GB of 4G LTE data instead of the usual 5 GB.  Unlimited talk and text are also included with the plan as is calling to and from the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Subscribers who enable autopay will get their monthly billed reduced to $45/month, a savings of $5 off of the regular price.  Family or group plan discounts are also offered with savings of up to $100 per month per account for up to 5 lines.  With group save, line 2 gets $10 off, line 3 $20 off, line 4 $30 off and line 5 $40 off.  That's a total of 5 lines for $150.

Current customers can upgrade to the promotional plan simply by visiting Cricket Wireless's website, through Cricket's mobile app or through one of its retail stores.  Cricket hasn't stated how long the promotional offer will last, so act now before it disappears if this plan interests you.

Get a Cricket Wireless SIM card for 50% off courtesy of Amazon.

Cricket Wireless is an AT&T MVNO that is owned by AT&T.  Unlike other AT&T MVNO's Cricket Wireless's download speeds are limited to 8 Mbps.  If you don't mind the speed restriction you may find this plan to be the best AT&T based plan around as you can see from this AT&T MVNO's comparison list.

If I upgrade from the $50/5GB plan to the $50/8GB plan, will my billing cycle restart the day I do the upgrade? I’m one week into my new billing cycle, and would not want to pay $50 one week after my last bill. I have to ask with Cricket. For a low cost cell provider they do play games like this and it’s impossible to get billing errors fixed.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the answer. It is common in the industry to restart billing cycle with a plan change though.
