US Mobile has launched an aggressive promo for new customers: buy one unlimited annual plan and get one of lesser value for free. This “buy one, get one” (BOGO) offer is available only on their “Dark Star” network, which is US Mobile’s name for AT&T’s network. New customers are defined as anyone who hasn’t used US Mobile in the past 15 days. The company’s CEO has also mentioned on Reddit that a special deal for existing customers is in the works.

How The BOGO Works

Customers have two different annual plan BOGO options to take advantage of. They are as follows:

  • Buy the Annual Unlimited Premium plan ($348/year or $29/month) and get a free Annual Unlimited Starter plan. This averages out to $14.50 per line per month.
  • Buy the Annual Unlimited Starter plan ($228/year or $19/month) and get a free Annual Unlimited Flex plan. This averages out to $9.50 per line per month.

Taxes and fees are included in the prices.

Here are the features included with each plan option.

Unlimited Premium

  • Unlimited Priority Data (QCI-8)
  • Unlimited Hotspot Data (first 100GB at full speed, then 100GB at 8Mbps, followed by unlimited at 600Kbps)
  • QHD 1440p Streaming
  • Multi-Gig Speeds where available
  • Up to 20GB International Data in 90+ Countries
  • International Calling & Texting
  • Free Network Transfers

Unlimited Starter

  • 70GB of high-speed data then throttled to 1Mbps
  • 20GB Hotspot
  • Up to HD Video streaming
  • Deprioritized data, your data speeds will slow down compared to other customers when the network is busy
  • Upgrade to priority data for an additional $120
  • Call and Text to International numbers
  • 2 free network transfers then $2 per transfer
  • Multi-network add-on ($90/yr)

Unlimited Flex

  • 10GB of high-speed data then throttled to 1Mbps
  • 5GB Hotspot
  • Deprioritized data
  • Upgrade to priority data for an additional $120 (price for annual plans)
  • Call and Text to International numbers
  • 2 free network transfers then $2 per transfer

Network transfers let you port your number between the different carrier networks that US Mobile supports, but this feature may not be included with the current promotion. If you want to use multiple networks on your phone, you can still use the multi-network add-on to add an extra line.

Customers who wish to take advantage of this promo will need to port both lines to the Dark Star network. It is scheduled to be available at least until 6/7/25. You can find the offer here.

Editor's Take

Personally, I'm not really a fan of getting locked into annual plans. I don't like having to pay the big upfront payment that they require. Being locked into one could also cause you to miss out on a better deal down the road. And if you find out you are unhappy with the network and decide to leave, you may end up having paid for months of unused service.

If you are ok with those potential shortfalls, this is a really great deal. You get two unlimited plans at almost unheard of prices. The only better deal that I can think of in the past year is when Total Wireless offered unlimited for $15/line with two or more lines.

US Mobile has been very aggressively trying to add customers to its Dark Star network over the last several months. They've featured a few promotions revolving around the network and continue to offer discounts on some of their annual and monthly unlimited plans with the use of promo codes. They are also the only independent MVNO able to offer a truly unlimited 5G data plan on the AT&T network which would seem to indicate they may have some sort of special deal in place with AT&T.

In 2021, Volition Capital invested $11.5 million in US Mobile. Less than a year later, US Mobile announced it had received an additional $11 million in funding. The company has been growing rapidly over the last couple of years. BestMVNO reported back in February that they closed out 2024 with an annual revenue run rate of $100 million. Their CEO has more recently stated that they've now reached a $150 million revenue run rate.
