US Mobile is preparing to launch several new features, one of which has just become available. Google Pixel Watch connectivity is now supported in companion mode on the Warp 5G network (Verizon). The service is free for customers on US Mobile’s flagship Unlimited Premium plan, priced at $44/month (or $32.50/month if paid annually). For all other customers, the watch connectivity add-on costs $9.50/month or $78/year if paid annually. Currently, supported watches include the Google Pixel Watch 2 and newer models. With this release, US Mobile now supports smartwatch connectivity for both Apple Watch and Google Pixel Watch devices on its Warp 5G network, making it one of the few MVNOs and prepaid wireless providers to offer compatibility with both watches.

US Mobile's multi-network feature was formally released a few weeks ago and allows customers to add a second line on another network to their Unlimited Premium plans. The feature launched for free with the intention of putting a price tag on it later. US Mobile's CEO, Ahmed Khattak said in a reddit post that he hopes to get the price point under $15/month when the feature goes into general release in the coming weeks.

Several additional new features are planned for launch in the near future:

  • International Roaming Data Update: Rates as low as $2/GB. Customers on Pooled and Unlimited Starter plans will have the option to buy an international eSIM add-on. This eSIM provides users with a U.S. phone number for international calling and texting via the Dark Star (AT&T) network. This feature is expected to launch in April.
  • Global Data Usage for Pooled Plans: Subscribers will receive international data coverage in over 50 countries. This update is tentatively scheduled for mid-April.
  • Google Pixel 9 Promotion: Customers will be able to buy the Google Pixel 9 at a $400 discount, planned for an April release.
  • Messaging Updates for iPhones on Dark Star: Support for RCS, Visual Voicemail, and improved group messaging on iPhones is now expected to roll out in April, pushed back from an original March release date.
  • Unlimited Starter Plan Improvements: Enhancements are coming to the Unlimited Starter plan on Dark Star and possibly other networks. Details of the improvement(s) have not been specified, although a "performance boost" is said to be coming. This suggests to me the possible addition of QCI-8 premium priority data to the plan instead of it being an add-on.

In addition to these updates, Khattak shared some notable business metrics. In August 2024, US Mobile reached a $100 million annual revenue run rate. The company expects to double this figure by the end of 2025. Founded in 2014, US Mobile had nearly 500,000 subscribers as of May 2024, according to statements made by COO Michael Melmed and Khattak on a YouTube podcast.

Editor's Take

US Mobile continues to be one of most feature rich MVNOs on the market offering services that cannot be found elsewhere. They also offer some of the best pricing in the industry. The upcoming $400 discount on the Google Pixel 9 could position US Mobile directly against Mint Mobile, which has a similar Pixel 9 promotion.

Although a time table has been announced for when these new features will be released, it's a wait and see game to see if they actually come out as scheduled. US Mobile has a history of announcing upcoming features that are repeatedly delayed and sometimes altered shortly after launch.
