T-mobile and Univision have partnered up to target the nations 56 million Hispanic Americans with a new MVNO, Univision Mobile as it will be known. The cell phone plans will start at $30 a month and will include unlimited nationwide calling and texting, unlimited international texting to 200 countries, as well as 100 minutes of international calls to select Hispanic markets including Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Peru, Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, and Chile. Data plans will begin at $45 and will include 2.5 GB of 3G data.
T-mobile's 3G network offers a maximum theoretical download speed of 14 Mbps and therefore if you need data I would suggest you start at this tier. 4G cell phone plans will go for $55. The first phones to be offered will include slightly older models such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and newer budget models such as the Samsung Galaxy Light. Sim cards and smartphones will be sold through Walmart as well as at independent dealers in local Hispanic communities.
