Tello Mobile announced today they have officially launched data top-ups. Subscribers who exhaust their high-speed data during their billing cycles can now add an additional 1GB of high-speed data to their plans for $5. Data top-ups can be added to any Tello plan that includes high-speed data, but not to talk and text-only plans. Unfortunately, the top-up does not rollover and expires at the end of your plan's billing cycle. Strangely, the option to add a top-up will only appear in your account dashboard when you have less than 1GB of high-speed data remaining on your current plan.
In December 2023, Tello Mobile updated their plans, introducing combinations of lower prices and higher data allotments. However, Tello eliminated the previously included unlimited slow data from all plans except for their flagship plan. BestMVNO noted in an article highlighting the plan changes that Tello's FAQs stated data top-ups were available. According to their FAQs:
"If you've run out of high-speed data, you can always add more data to your plan by purchasing a Data Add-On from your online account. A Data Add-On is a 1GB data top-up, that you can add to your current plan. Regardless of the date when the Data Add-On was purchased, it will expire on the same day as your current billing cycle. This option will only be visible in your account when your data usage drops below a certain amount."
However, despite the claims in Tello's FAQs, the feature was not actually available at that time.
Renew Your Plan Or Top-Up By SMS
Just a few days ago, Tello added an additional service feature. Customers can now top-up their plans or check their balances by sending an SMS text message to the number "800." Customers can check their balances by texting "BALANCE" to that number. Other options include:
- Text ADD1GB to add the 1GB data top-up
- Text RENEW to renew your plan
Customers that want to add more data to their plans or renew their plans early must have a saved credit or debit card in their accounts. To add data, your plan must be active.
