SpotMobile Stops Providing Service
Recently, T-Mobile MVNO SpotMobile decided to discontinue business and will no longer provide service effective September 7th 2014 11:59PM EST. The former MVNO has not provided any specific reasons for its closure, although I can say they did not rank well in terms of competitive pricing and features in my rankings.
What I felt ranked as their best plan gave you unlimited talk, text and international text as well as some international talk and 2 GB of 4G data for $49.99. A quick look around at various offerings from several other MVNO's and you'll see that this plans features are easily bested. Now if you are a current customer looking for a new service provider I suggest you take a good look at T-Mobiles prepaid service which a graphic of is below. The plan includes 5GB of LTE data, unlimited text, unlimited international texting and 100 minutes of voice. Some of you may not like the idea of having only 100 minutes of talk, however there are plenty of quick remedies to this problem such as downloading FreedomPop's iOS or Android app which will give you another phone number to be used for unlimited talk and text over data or wi-fi. If you have Google hangouts on iOS you'll have those features as well. If you are not comfortable with those ideas and would like to go a more traditional route, you can always sign up for Straight Talk and get 3 GB of LTE data to go with unlimited talk and text. For more information about SpotMobile's closing check out their website which is now hit or miss in terms of if you'll be able to connect to it. T-Mobile Prepaid $30 Month 5 GB 4G LTE Data Plan |
