ROK Mobile has announced that on August 1st, its unlimited but throttled data plan will go kaput.  In its place will be a hard cap of 5 GB.

ROK Mobile is a Verizon MVNO that initially launched service roughly two years ago as a Sprint and T-Mobile MVNO.  The company only offers one cell phone plan priced at $49.99/month that includes unlimited talk, text and now 5 GB of hard capped data.  ROK Mobile says that those that require more data will be able to purchase it at a rate of $15 per GB.  Those that still need unlimited but throttled data on Verizon can have a look at this no contract wireless plan list.  Plan options are unfortunately extremely limited.

Like all Verizon MVNO's, ROK Mobile's download speeds are limited to 5 Mbps and upload  speeds 2 Mbps.  ROK Mobile's plan also includes an unlimited streaming music service that features over 20 million tracks as well as accidental death insurance.

ROK Mobile has not announced any other changes to its service at this time other than :

In the coming weeks we will be messaging you about some new and exciting value added services that will further strengthen ROK Mobile’s value proposition

Whatever the new services are, you can be assured that BestMVNO.com will have them posted as soon as they are announced.
