T-Mobile was founded in 1994 under the name VoiceStream Wireless PCS. In the year 2000 Deutsche Telekom AG agreed to purchase the company for $50.5 billion and in 2002 it was renamed to T-Mobile USA. It is the third largest wireless carrier in the USA. In 2013 T-Mobile expanded through its acquisition of MetroPCS. MetroPCS serves as its prepaid wireless brand.
In 2017 T-Mobile strengthened its position in the Western USA through its purchase of iWireless. In 2018 T-Mobile agreed to purchase Sprint to fuel its growth during the country’s transition to 5G wireless.
