How T-Mobile Plans Work

T-Mobile was founded in 1994 under the name VoiceStream Wireless PCS.   In the year 2000 Deutsche Telekom AG agreed to purchase the company for $50.5 billion and in 2002 it was renamed to T-Mobile USA.  It is the third largest wireless carrier in the USA.  In 2013 T-Mobile expanded through its acquisition of MetroPCS.  MetroPCS serves as its prepaid wireless brand.

In 2017 T-Mobile strengthened its position in the Western USA through its purchase of iWireless. In 2018, T-Mobile agreed to purchase Sprint to fuel its growth during the country’s transition to 5G wireless.

On May 1, 2024, T-Mobile officially acquired the Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile brands.

T-Mobile sells a plethora of phones from major brands including Apple, Samsung and LG.  Phones are sold at a variety of different price points to best suit the customer’s budget.  Bring your own device is also supported.  Universally unlocked phones from manufacturers such as Motorola and Samsung are compatible.  Unlocked phones from AT&T are also compatible.

Where To Buy Service Plans And SIM Cards

T-Mobile SIMs and plans can be purchased at national retail outlets throughout the country.  T-Mobile operates thousands of its own stores.  Plans, SIMs and phones can also be purchased online directly through the T-Mobile website.  Prepaid plans and SIMs are available at most major retail outlets in store and online including at Best Buy, Walmart and Target.  Amazon also carries the brand.
