Mingle Mobile, an MVNO on the T-Mobile network has launched a free 7-day trial. The trial does not require you to submit any payment information to claim it. However, you do have to port your number in to get it, and you'll be asked what plan you'd like to renew with once your trial is up. The trial is available instantly through eSIM, but it's also available to those of you with devices that only accept a physical SIM card.
Mingle Mobile isn't exactly clear on their website about how much data this free trial offer includes, but I'm inclined to believe it's available on their "unlimited" plan with 35GB of high-speed data before throttling to 2G data speeds or about 128Kbps. I believe this because Mingle Mobile's Facebook page and some of their other social media posted at the end of December that they were offering free unlimited data for 7 days.
The plan includes hotspot data access. Mingle Mobile claims you can stream in 4K, and their unlimited data plan page says "No Speed Throttling. Ever. Do whatever you need to do at full speed. We don’t slow you down." However, the no speed throttling statement is either an honest mistake or blatant false advertising. On the same page the company does include a broadband facts label which states the plan has 35GB of data then speeds are throttled. Their FAQs aren't exactly confidence inducing either with one that reads: "Only on Unlimited* plans will you experience throttling after premium data is exhausted. With Mingle Mobile, all other plans offer high-speed premium data with no slowdowns—just smooth surfing all the way!" Of course, this makes no sense at all.
After the free trial is up you can choose from one of four Mingle Mobile offerings. The available plans are as follows:
1GB | 5GB | 15GB | 35GB | |
Price/Month | $9 | $20 | $25 | $35 |
Hotspot data | No | No | Yes | Yes |
Taxes and fees are included. All plans also come with unlimited talk and text. They claim data top-ups are available in increments of 5GB, 10GB, 30GB, 50GB and 100GB options. However, no pricing is disclosed for the top-ups.
Mingo Mobile does offer an app for iOS and Android. Screenshots of their Android app in the Google Play store would seem to indicate that top-ups are priced at $20, $30, $50, and $100 for the 10GB-100GB top-ups respectively, without a price shown for the 5GB option. Keep in mind pricing in the screenshots may be outdated. Companies don't always keep their app screenshots in the app stores up to date.
Mingle Mobile is a new comer to the market and I suggest using caution if you are considering this provider and you care about your phone number. The company launched in the middle of 2024 around the time that the ACP wound down. Mingle Mobile was launched by Unity Wireless a provider whose original business seemed to be centered around the ACP. According to the BBB, Unity Wireless was started in May 2022. So there isn't a lot of history around either brand, and MVNOs often come and go overnight.
The company does at least have a variety of customer support options, including via online chat, over the phone and email/support tickets. Early reviews on Facebook aren't great with the biggest complaints centered around porting out. Some customers stated they needed to wait at least a day to port out because port out info is handled only by email and within certain hours. At least one customer also had an issue porting in that customer support had difficulty handling.
If you still want to try Mingle Mobile keeping those potential issues in mind, you can find their free trial offer here. If you do try them, leave a comment below and let me know how it went.
