Freedompop expects to surpass one million subscribers over the next few months and plans to do so with the help of a new offering, a no contract plan that offers unlimited talk, text and data for $5/month. The plan will operate using Freedompop and its partners 10 million plus network of Wi-Fi hotspots, some of which are closed off to the general public. The MVNO expects to expand the number of mobile hotspots it has to 25 million by the end of the current quarter. A look at it's current coverage map shows the potential this new service has. While still small by number, the coverage map does rival some regional carriers. Could in the next couple of years Freedompops Wi-Fi hotspot network expand enough to rival those of traditional carrier networks?
