US Mobile has won the first ever People’s Choice Award for their favorite wireless carrier of 2024. The winner was decided by a poll conducted by Max Hietpas, formerly known as Max Tech Studios, during the month of December by leveraging the social media platforms YouTube, X, and Reddit. Nearly 200 people voted in the poll via Google Forms.

This poll offered a snapshot of consumer preferences in a market filled with MVNOs and carriers. According to the final tally, US Mobile led the pack with 17.94% of the votes, followed closely by T-Mobile at 15.38%. Visible came in third with 14.87%, and Verizon landed at 13.84%. Total Wireless held 7.69%, while dozens of other carriers each received only a handful of votes—often just one or two. Voting was open from November 4, 2024, to December 31, 2024, giving participants almost two months to cast their votes.

Organizer Max Hietpas believes that US Mobile clinched the top spot thanks to its innovative approach to wireless service. Unlike many other carriers, US Mobile provides access to all three major networks, allowing customers to switch networks easily if one works better in a particular location. This unique feature resonated strongly with survey respondents. Max also believes that US Mobile offers some of the best plans in the industry, with a wide range of pricing options that make them attractive to different types of users.

In open-ended responses, several voters shared why they prefer US Mobile. One enthusiast wrote, “I…love US Mobile. Their plans are great, customer service is great, and I LOVE their network switching.” Another stated, “Best value and customer service,” while a third quipped, “Only human carrier here.” Some praised US Mobile’s “flexibility of network options and excellent pricing,” while others highlighted its ability to “switch between the 3 major USA carriers seamlessly.”

Beyond the poll itself, 2024 was a big year for US Mobile, and these milestones likely contributed to the brand’s growing popularity. According to a previous article from BestMVNO, the company opened its first retail store this year, allowing customers to interact with US Mobile representatives in person. They also added new marketing efforts. Moreover, US Mobile continued to refine its plan structure and features throughout the year, adding service on the AT&T network, giving customers the ability to switch on demand between the three networks it operates on, and adding support for Apple Watch.

It’s worth noting that this poll, like many others, has its limitations. Because it was promoted through Max Hietpas’s channels and by some of his followers, it may have attracted a specific group of respondents who are more engaged and biased towards certain carriers. Additionally, with fewer than 200 participants, it might not capture the full scope of the broader market. Still, the results clearly showcase enthusiasm among a dedicated segment of consumers, emphasizing US Mobile’s growing reputation as a versatile and customer-oriented carrier.

As the People’s Choice Award winner, US Mobile sets a high standard for what consumers expect in a modern wireless service. By combining affordability, flexibility, and strong customer service, the carrier has carved out a loyal following. While T-Mobile, Visible, Verizon, and Total Wireless also faired well in the survey, this win suggests that US Mobile is successfully resonating with users who value the ability to choose networks and customize their plans. If US Mobile continues to innovate and maintain its user-focused approach, it will likely remain a top contender in future polls and in the broader wireless market.

I come from a family that was in the public opinion polling business and, as a result, I couldn’t help thinking that the story crediting T-Mobile for winning a People’s Choice award merited a disclaimer that the poll sample size was inadequate to be deemed reliable. The People’s Choice award was based on T-Mobile getting 15.38% of the 200 votes cast (or about 30 votes). T-Mobile had 127.5 million subscribers as of September 30, 2024. That means that .000000236220472% of its subscribers voted that it was the best. Not very reward-worthy in my view.
