Top Picks

If I had to choose the best one from a pure value standpoint it would be Total Wireless's offer. I like the offer because it has a 5 year price lock guarantee. Most other offers on this list are either offering a discount for the first month only, or just for the first few months of service. That's not enough to personally peak my interest.

I also like Total Wireless's offer because their top two plans include unlimited priority data for $30/month or less, so when the network gets congested, data speeds won't slow down compared to other customers on Verizon's network who don't have priority data.

I'm personally subscribed to Total Wireless's mid-tier 'Total 5G" unlimited plan that is $25/month through this holiday season offer. However, I got it for $15/month per line as part of a promotion that launched late summer.

If you are considering this offer, one thing to be aware of is customer support does not have a great reputation. When the promotional offers first launched Total Wireless had a lot of issues getting the promotional prices to show up in their customers account and even when they did show up they sometimes disappeared after a billing cycle ended. First line customer support generally wasn't able to help fix the issues. Some customers left Total Wireless because of them. I was also affected by those problems and wrote about them last month. Since the offers first came out, Total Wireless has updated their billing systems and acknowledged the trouble. I believe the updated billing systems should help prevent the issues from happening again. After being fixed, my account showed the correct price for the last billing cycle and shows the correct one for my upcoming one as well. Aside from the billing issue I have had no other problems with Total Wireless and have been happy with my service.

Runner Ups

I have two runner up picks: Ultra Mobile and MobileX.

Ultra Mobile's deal with truly unlimited data for $20/month when you prepay for a year of service is the best value deal you can get on the T-Mobile network right now. The fact that it comes with hotspot is a huge plus because many other unlimited plans in this price range don't offer it.

It's not the top pick for me because it requires that you prepay for service for one year in advance. I'm not a fan of annual plans or other plans that you have to lock yourself into for an extended period of time. However, I recognize the value here and not everyone feels the same way about annual plans as I do. It's also not the top pick because it doesn't include unlimited priority data or any priority data at all, although this is much less of an issue for plans on T-Mobile's network compared to other networks.

My other runner up pick would be MobileX's $24.88/month unlimited plan. I like it because it gives you 199GB of premium priority data which should be more than enough data for most people and and you don't have to prepay for a year of service in advance to get it. No other independent MVNO is offering better value for the price. Downsides to the plan preventing it from being the top pick over Total Wireless include only 480p video streaming is supported, the price lock is only for one year, the hotspot allotment is limited, and taxes and fees aren't included in the price. However, if you want coverage on Verizon's network, don't want service with a carrier owned brand, this is a really good alternative offer.
