US Mobile's CEO, Ahmed Khattak, has announced on Reddit that the company is preparing for a beta launch of Apple Watch support. Those interested in signing up for the beta simply need to leave a comment in that Reddit thread.
US Mobile plans to roll out the beta over the next few weeks and aims for a public launch on October 21. However, customers familiar with US Mobile will know the company has a history of not meeting its publicly announced launch dates for new features and plans.
Apple Watch support will first be available on the Warp 5G network, US Mobile's name for the Verizon network. The subscriber's phone plan will also need to be on that network as well. Support for the other two networks US Mobile operates on, Dark Star (AT&T), and Light Speed (T-Mobile), aren't planned until March 2025 or later.
US Mobile subscribers will be able to add Apple Watch as a companion or standalone device to any plan on Warp 5G. However, legacy custom plan subscribers will not be able to add it. Khattak claims activating Apple Watch will be a seamless and simple experience, requiring an over-the-air eSIM push to your device.
Khattak also states that Apple Watch will be available free of charge in companion mode on US Mobile's flagship $44/month Unlimited Premium plan. Otherwise, it will cost $9/month or $6/month when paid for annually. When added to an annual plan pricing will not be prorated. If you are three months into an annual phone plan you'll still have to pay for 12 months of Apple Watch. Initially, the company will offer Apple Watch with unlimited data regardless of what phone plan the customer is subscribed to.
Khattak didn't specify which Apple Watch models will or won't work, other than mentioning that older watches like the Apple Watch Series 3 won't be compatible. Customers can port numbers into their Apple Watch plan.
Support for the Apple Watch is extremely limited among independent MVNOs. Xfinity Mobile, PureTalk, Spectrum Mobile, and Consumer Cellular are among the only independent, non-carrier-owned brands known to support it. So this will be a big accomplishment for US Mobile to be able to support it.
