US Mobile has rolled out significant upgrades to its Unlimited Premium and Unlimited Starter plans across all three of its network offerings: Warp (Verizon), Light Speed (T-Mobile), and Dark Star (AT&T).
Unlimited Premium, US Mobile’s highest-tier plan, no longer has high-speed data caps on any of its networks. Previously, the plan offered uncapped data only on Dark Star; now, it includes unlimited high-speed access across Warp and Light Speed as well. Those two networks were previously capped at 100GB of high-speed data before throttling. Priority data access is included by default at QCI-8 on Dark Star and Warp, with QCI-7 slated to be added to Dark Star in the near future. Dark Star customers also now get 10GB of domestic roaming.
International features have also expanded. Unlimited Premium users receive:
- International data standardized to 20GB, previously varied between 10GB and 20GB
- 200 minutes and 250 texts
Light Speed now covers over 180 countries, Dark Star covers 110 countries with 41 offering data-only access, and Warp is expanding from 12 countries to 125 next month.
Hotspot allowances remain unchanged at:
- Dark Star: 200 GB total (100 GB at full speed, 100 GB at 8 Mbps, then unlimited at 600 kbps)
- Warp and Light Speed: Remain at 50 GB
The plan remains priced at $44/month, or $35/month with the FULLSPEED promo, and $32.50/month when paid annually.
Unlimited Starter Also Receives Significant Enhancements and One Downgrade
Unlimited Starter has seen parallel upgrades. Dark Star network users now receive unlimited high-speed data (up from 70GB cap), while Warp and Light Speed users see their data caps doubled from 35 GB to 70 GB. Domestic roaming has been added with 10 GB available exclusively on Dark Star.
One key change involves data priority tiers. Starting August 18:
- New Unlimited Starter customers on Warp will no longer have priority data access and default to QCI-9. Previously, customers received QCI-8 priority data access with a 5G device.
- A QCI-8 add-on will be available for $4/month or $36/year
- Customers who join before August 18 will remain grandfathered into QCI-8 priority data access
International Roaming Add-Ons Reduced in Price
US Mobile has also cut the price of its international roaming add-ons:
- 5 GB roaming add-on: Reduced from $45 to $30, includes 500 minutes and 500 texts, valid for 30 days
- 1 GB add-on: Remains at $15 with 150 minutes and 150 texts
Unlike daily travel passes used by many carriers, US Mobile’s roaming add-ons last for a full month, offering a longer duration of use.
Priority Access For By the Gig Users
For users on US Mobile’s By the Gig plan, the QCI-8 add-on is:
- Dark Star: $2/month for QCI-8
- Warp: Follows the same model starting August 18, previously included free of charge
As with the Starter plan, Warp users on By the Gig who join before August 18 will retain QCI-8 status indefinitely at no extra cost.
Multi-Network Free Trial
All Unlimited Premium and Starter plans now include a Multi-Network access free trial by default. Current and new customers will get two free multi-network lines to use for up to two billing cycles allowing subscribers to have three networks on their devices all at once. Multi-network will also be available as part of US Mobile's 30-day free trial offer for new customers.
Potential Limitations to Be Aware Of
Although the Starter plan now includes unlimited high-speed data on Dark Star, US Mobile's terms and conditions indicate that this may be a temporary promotion. The terms state:
"The unthrottled version of the Unlimited Starter Unthrottled on Dark Star plan is available for a limited time only. The promotional period may end at any time, without advance notice, at US Mobile’s discretion."
Additionally, US Mobile notes that the offer could be limited to new customers on Dark Star:
"Eligibility Restriction: US Mobile reserves the right to restrict this offer only to lines that are new to the Dark Star network. Lines that have ported out of the Dark Star network (or expired on the Dark Star network) within the 30 days from porting into Dark Star or reactivating on US Mobile may not be considered new lines. Lines that are already on the Dark Star network may not be eligible for the unthrottled Unlimited Starter Unthrottled on Dark Star offer."
The Unlimited Premium plan was also originally listed as a limited-time offer in US Mobile’s terms and conditions when it launched. That language remains in place, though US Mobile CEO Ahmed Khattak has stated the plan is intended to be permanent and the limited-time disclaimer exists for legal reasons. It’s unclear whether the same legal framing applies to the Starter plan on Dark Star or whether this truly is a short-term promotion.
US Mobile’s acceptable use policy remains unchanged. It includes the following clause:
"Excessive or abusive usage that negatively impacts network performance, including repeated or excessive speed tests, may result in throttling, capping, or termination of service at our discretion."
In a public Reddit post, CEO Ahmed Khattak also stated that customers who attempt to circumvent usage policies, for example, by using SIMs in routers or bypassing hotspot limits using software tools (and presumably VPNS) risk being removed from the platform.
Editor's Take
In the context of the MVNO landscape, US Mobile’s updated plans offer some of the strongest value in the market. The provider continues to differentiate itself with unique features, including the ability to switch between networks without losing account balances. In some cases, its plans now rival, or even exceed, those of carrier-owned prepaid brands. And you don't have to take my word for it, you can use the BestMVNO phone plan finder tool or the unlimited plans page to see for yourself how US Mobile compares to other providers in the industry.
That said, I remain somewhat skeptical about the move to “truly unlimited” high-speed data across all three networks. Historically, MVNOs haven’t had permission from their network partners to offer truly unlimited data in a financially sustainable way. When some have tried, they’ve often relied on the assumption that most users wouldn’t consume enough data to make the plans unprofitable.
It’s unclear how US Mobile is managing to offer unlimited 5G data across Warp, Light Speed, and Dark Star profitably, but this could signal a shift in industry dynamics. After going truly unlimited on Dark Star and pushing heavy promotions, it seemed likely that US Mobile had reached an agreement with AT&T (Dark Star’s host network) to support that offering. Now, we may be seeing similar deals emerge with other host networks.
There are a few hints of this trend elsewhere. In April, BestMVNO reported that Xfinity Mobile began offering a truly unlimited 5G plan on Verizon’s network. While that plan includes deprioritization after 100GB, it does not include hard throttling. The plan's terms state, “After 100 GB, data may be slower during times of congestion.” Still, outside of US Mobile, there are no known independent MVNOs offering truly unlimited on-device 5G data on T-Mobile’s network.
Whatever the arrangement may be, the result is a major win for consumers. Whether there are hidden limitations remains to be seen, but if there are, it’s likely they’ll come to light quickly especially as power users begin putting these plans and policies to the test.
