US Mobile has just released a new deal. Both current and new customers can get a Google Pixel 9 for just $249. The terms vary slightly depending on your customer status.
- New Customer Requirements - Purchase any unlimited plan on any network and you'll get the Pixel 9 at the discounted price of $249.
- Current Customer Offer - If you are already on an Unlimited OR By-the-Gig plan, and have been on it for at least 90 days you can also get a Pixel 9 for $249. No additional plan purchase is required.
Most of US Mobile's promotions over the last few months have been specific to the Dark Star network, the name given to the service it provides on AT&T's network. However, this offer is different. The deal is valid for plans purchased on any network US Mobile operates on, Dark Star, Light Speed (T-Mobile), and Warp 5G (Verizon).
The Google Pixel 9 will be sold locked to US Mobile, however, they will automatically unlock after 90 days of active service. The offer is stackable with US Mobile's other deals including buy one unlimited plan get one free.
US Mobile offer's three unlimited plans, Unlimited Premium, Unlimited Starter, and Unlimited Flex. The Flex plan is only available as an annual plan and includes 10GB of monthly high-speed data and 5GB hotspot for $210 or an average of $17.50/month.
The Starter and Premium plans are available as either monthly or annual plans. The features available on each plan do differ quite a bit based on what network you are using it with and if you get an annual plan or monthly. You can head on over to the US Mobile website if you need the specifics. The basic features for each plan are:
- Unlimited Starter - Up to 70GB of 5G data each month, with up to 10GB hotspot, calls and texts to international numbers, and global roaming. Available for $25/month or $19/month ($228) as an annual plan with code OVERDRIVE at checkout.
- Unlimited Premium - Unlimited 5G data each month on Dark Star (100GB on other networks) unlimited hotspot on Dark Star with speed tiers (50GB on other networks) calls and texts to international numbers, and global roaming. Available for $44/month or $35/month with code FULLSPEED. Available for $29/month ($348) as an annual plan with code OVERDRIVE at checkout.
Taxes and fees are included with all plans.
US Mobile Plan Upgrades
The Google Pixel 9 promo isn't the only recent change or new offer from US Mobile. The company is also adding free domestic roaming for customers using its Dark Star network on its Unlimited Premium and Unlimited Starter plans.
US Mobile is also rewarding current customers on its OG plans free bonus data. If you are on Unlimited All on Warp or Dark Star you should soon be seeing the following changes to your plan:
- Your high speed data will double from 75 GB to 150 GB
- If you have the Hotspot add-on, your allotment will increase from 20 GB to 40 GB at the same price
The changes will roll out automatically as your plan renews. The company plans to bring its Multi-Network feature to Unlimited All in the near future. US Mobile's CEO, Ahmed Khattak, announced these new plan features and changes in a recent Reddit post.
The Google Pixel 9 offer is one of the better deals I've seen for the device. It's heavily discounted and a long term commitment isn't needed to get it. The offer is available while supplies last on the US Mobile website. US Mobile does not sell through retail stores or dealers, except for a single branded store in New York State.
This is a really tempting offer – less than one-third list price for a very good phone. The only potential gotcha here is the network-lock thing.
I realize that US Mobile promises a network unlock after a few months, but I’d still be concerned that the “unlocked” version might not have the full quota of 4G/5G bands available on the factory unlocked model. I say this after buying a similarly priced Pixel 7 a couple of years ago on a similar Mint promotion and, after its network unlocking, still wasn’t able to activate the phone on any of the Verizon-based carriers.
Think if I wanted this phone I’d fork over the difference for a factory-unlocked model. Still, for $249 …
