Tracfone Wireless is running a promotion for bring your own device customers. New customers that bring their phones over to Tracfone and enable auto-refill for two months will get their third month of service for free. There are a few other fine print points to know about this offer which are detailed below.
Tracfone Third Month Free Offer Fine Print
This offer is only available on select Tracfone Wireless plans. To take advantage of it, subscribers must activate and stay active on one of the following plans:
- $20/month - 1GB data
- $25/month - 2GB data
- $30/month - 3GB data
- $40/month - 8GB data
The plans all come with unlimited talk and text, but data is hard-capped. If you run out of your high-speed data during a billing cycle, there is no unlimited 2G "slow data" to use afterward. However, Tracfone does sell a data top-up card with unlimited carryover. The top-up costs $10 for an additional 1GB of high-speed data. Customers that don't use up all of their plan's monthly data in a billing cycle can carry it over to their next billing cycle. The $40 plan includes hotspot and subscribers can use all of the plan's monthly data for hotspot if they so choose. The other plans do not allow hotspot usage. The $40 plan also includes IDnotify, for identity theft protection and restoration.
Auto-refill and a credit/debit card on file are required to get the third-month free offer. Auto-refill will also get you a $5/month discount off of each of the plans listed above for the first two refills only.
This offer is scheduled to be available at least until 3/31/2021. Tracfone has a long history of extending its promos, so don't be surprised if it happens with this one.
The BYOD third month free deal is available online directly through Tracfone and also through select retailers including Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Kroger, Meijer, Amazon, and eBay. Those buying through Amazon can get a 10% monthly credit back with their plans.
Last year, Tracfone and its associated brands also ran 3rd-month free offers. Those offers were restricted to the dealer channel only, were not available online, and were not restricted to BYOD customers only.
