PureTalk has increased the amount of high-speed data included with several plans and appears to have added dedicated hotspot allotments. A couple of weeks ago BestMVNO reported that H2O Wireless increased the amount of data added to its plans and added dedicated hotspot to each of them. H2O Wireless and PureTalk are sister brands owned by Telrite Holdings. Both brands operate as AT&T MVNOs.
PureTalk's Plan Changes
Every PureTalk plan has been updated. Below is a list of what's changed with each plan at each price point.
- $20/month - 3GB high-speed data, up from 2GB. Will now include 2GB of dedicated hotspot data
- $25/month - 5GB high-speed data, up from 4GB. Will now include 2GB of dedicated hotspot data
- $30/month - 10GB high-speed data, up from 6GB. Will now include 5GB of dedicated hotspot data
- $35/month - 15GB high-speed data, up from 10GB. Will now include 5GB of dedicated hotspot data
- $45/month - 25GB high-speed data, up from 20GB. Will now include 5GB dedicated hotspot
- $55/month - 60GB high-speed data, no change. Will now include 25GB dedicated hotspot data. Previously, 15GB of data could be used for hotspot
- $60/month - 60GB high-speed data, no change. Will now include 30GB dedicated hotspot data. Previously, 25GB of data could be used for hotspot
Each plan includes unlimited data, but data speeds are reduced to 256Kbps once the plan's high-speed allotment has been surpassed during a monthly billing cycle. A representative from H2O Wireless confirmed to BestMVNO at the end of June that H2O's plan updates included separate dedicated hotspot data. Consequently, BestMVNO believes the PureTalk hotspot data allotments are also dedicated and do not draw from each plan's high-speed on-device data allotment.
In addition to the plan changes, PureTalk continues to offer new customers 25% off their first three months of service. There's also an offer for a free Samsung Galaxy A14 5G with the purchase of a plan priced $55 or higher. However, the free phone offer does require a number port-in and a 30-month device payment plan agreement. PureTalk has been advertising the free Samsung Galaxy A14 5G on TV since May.
Does that increase in data apply to existing PureTalk customers like me? Also, I was getting an additional 0.5GB data/month as an AMAC member (so 2.5GB instead of 2GB); will that become 3.5GB for someone on the $20/month plan who is also an AMAC member?
