MobileX announced today that it's taking on carrier-owned prepaid brands—such as Visible by Verizon, Total Wireless, and Mint Mobile—by matching their unlimited plans through a limited-time promotion.
Now through December 31, 2024, customers will receive more data on all plans without a change in their prices. Here are the promotional offers:
- Unlimited Plan ($24.88/month): Previously known as Unlimited 30 as it came with 30GB of 5G data, will now include unlimited 5G data without throttling.
- The Unlimited 5 plan, previously offering unlimited data with the first 5GB at 5G speeds for $14.88/month, has been upgraded to 10GB before throttling and is now called Unlimited 10.
- MobileX has doubled the data on all personalized access plans through a data-matching initiative. MobileX will match every GB of data purchased on a customized plan, effectively doubling the customer’s data at no extra cost. Data costs $2.10/GB. Any unused purchased data will continue to carry over as credit on the next month’s bill, while matched data will not roll over.
All current subscribers will automatically receive these benefits during the promotional period without any action required on their part.
Although the promotional offers are scheduled to end on December 31, 2024, there's a possibility they will be extended. MobileX says that when the end date arrives they will re-evaluate their prices and the current market conditions and make adjustments accordingly. The company intends to compete with the best prices in the industry.

Along with the data increases, MobileX’s Unlimited plan now includes unlimited international calling and texting to over 90 countries. Customers on other plans, including Unlimited 10, can add this feature for an additional $9.95/month. A $9.95/day international roaming data pass, which includes 1GB of data, has also been introduced.
MobileX Unlimited Data Plan Details
MobileX's press release states that its unlimited data plans will have "no throttling, no hidden limits, just uninterrupted data access at full speed." However, this is still an MVNO. They don't own the network that they operate on, and to offer such a plan and be profitable, there have to be some limitations in place.
To help reduce data usage, this plan does have a video streaming resolution cap of 480p. Excessive users may face removal under a fair use policy. MobileX doesn't define excessive and fair use, but if you are someone who is downloading large files 24/7 to test and stress the network I suspect you'll be meeting that definition head on. The Unlimited plan does have a 10GB hotspot use limit.
This plan includes unlimited international calling to over 90 countries, setting it apart from comparable plans offered by Visible and Mint Mobile at the same price point. While Total Wireless also offers unlimited international calling, its $25 plan is a limited-time promotion available only to new BYOD customers. In contrast, MobileX’s promotional plan is available to all customers, with current subscribers getting automatically upgraded to it. The plan will continue to include 5G Ultra Wideband coverage and priority data, offering customers access to faster speeds and better network performance.
MobileX Responds to Aggressive Offers From Carrier-Owned Prepaid Brands
Carrier-owned prepaid brands, led by Verizon, have recently launched aggressive marketing campaigns and promotions for truly unlimited data plans at the $25 price point. Some promos have made the plans available for as low as $15/month. For example:
- Visible, for example, has a $15 unlimited plan offer for customers switching from T-Mobile postpaid.
- Total Wireless has a $25 BYOD offer and had a $15/line offer for two or more lines porting from T-Mobile owned brands.
- Straight Talk also has a $24.88/month BYOD unlimited plan deal as does Metro by T-Mobile.
The $25 price point is an area where MVNOs typically thrive. However, with carrier-owned prepaid brands now offering truly unlimited data plans at that price it makes it a lot harder for MVNOs to be able to compete. This means MVNOs may have little choice but to try and match and market what the carrier-owned prepaid brands are doing.

MobileX is more than just an unlimited plan provider. Its core offering is personalized access plans powered by A.I., which analyzes a subscriber’s data usage and recommends an appropriate data allotment to them so customers only have to pay for what they use. If a customer doesn’t use all their purchased data in a billing cycle, the unused portion is credited to their account for the next month. Customers can also choose their video streaming resolution (480p or 720p) to conserve data, or opt for no limit at all, another feature that differentiates them from many other providers on the market.
MobileX is sold at Walmart stores nationwide, and the company has been expanding into prepaid wireless dealerships over the past year. The new promotional offers will be available online and through all sales channels. In September, BestMVNO reported that the company updated its network with faster data speeds, reduced latency and an easier onboarding process.
Through these promotional offers, MobileX aims to provide consumers with more choices and better value in the prepaid wireless market. With unlimited data, international calling, and personalized plans tailored by A.I., MobileX seeks to position itself as a strong contender against carrier-owned prepaid brands.
