AT&T has launched its first wave of 2025 end-of-year holiday deals, headlined by a price drop for its $50/month ($40 with autopay) 30GB plan which is now available for $25/month.
BestMVNO first reported on this plan’s debut in January 2024, when it was criticized for its restrictive data speeds and lack of hotspot access. While the new $25 price point is more reasonable, the plan retains those same limitations.
It includes 30GB of “full-speed” data per month, but “full-speed” is capped at 3Mbps, and once the allotment is used, speeds drop to 1.5Mbps for the rest of the billing cycle. Hotspot use is not permitted, and multi-line discounts are unavailable. At those speeds, video streaming is of course limited a resolution of 480p.
Previously, AT&T Prepaid’s $25/month annual plan filled this price tier. That plan remains available, but its total cost was reduced in September to $240/year or an average of $20/month. It offers 16GB of truly full-speed data (no 3Mbps cap) per month before throttling to 1.5Mbps, along with 10GB of hotspot data. Video streaming is limited to 2Mbps or 480p, and calling/texting to over 230 destinations is included just as it is with the new $25 plan.

Editor's Take
AT&T Prepaid’s move to reprice its 30GB plan to $25/month makes it more competitive with offerings from its own MVNO partners and rival brands like Total Wireless, Visible, Metro by T-Mobile, and Mint Mobile. Still, the 3Mbps speed cap, lack of hotspot access, limited video streaming quality, and absence of multi-line discounts keep it from being a true value match. It’s ultimately best suited for light-to-moderate users who value AT&T’s network reliability more than raw speed.
For those seeking better performance and features, AT&T Prepaid’s annual 16GB plan at $240/year may be the stronger offer if paying upfront for a full year of service isn't a concern to you. It delivers faster data and hotspot access at an average of $20/month. Both plans require you to pay taxes and fees.
