Sprint Doubles the data

Sprint's New Family Share Pack Data Plans

Sprint has done it today, by announcing new family data plans, putting the pressure on the other carriers, even outdoing in some ways T-Mobile's new family plan.  For $100 plus a $15 per line access fee, no matter the size of your family, up to 10 persons you are entitled to 20 GB of shared LTE data plus 2 GB data specific to each line, so potentially you could have 40 GB of data on your plan!  If you are switching from another carrier there's even more for you.  For a limited time, switch to Sprint and your per line access fee will be waived through 2015, and you'll also be eligible to receive up to a $350 Visa Prepaid Card to buyout your current Family plan.  This offer will be valid August 22, 2014- September 30, 2014.  Sprint plans to shake things up a bit more this week by releasing new plans for individuals as well.  If there is one thing to criticize here, it's that Sprint seems to be giving the best deal to new customers, which is sort of a slap in the face to current customers.

I'd have to imagine that they'll be receiving quite a few phone calls this week asking why new customers get a better deal than current loyal customers.  They seem to be taking a page out of the playbooks of the cable companies the way they are running this promotion.  Perhaps they'll amend this plan later, as it does seem a bit odd.  I could be misunderstanding it too, but reading the fine print does make it seem as if it's for new customers only.  Here's a copy of the fine print "The $100 offer is available Aug. 22, 2014 – Sept. 30, 2014 when customers switch to Sprint. It includes $15/mo./line access charges waived through 2015. Valid only on 20GB or higher data allowance."  So what do you think of Sprint's new family plan?  Is it good enough to get you to consider switching carriers?
