Last week was Teacher Appreciate week.  To celebrate Republic Wireless launched its new Educator Appreciation Program (EAP).  Through the program, teachers are eligible for a 50% discount on their new or existing Republic Wireless phone plan.

Republic Wireless EAP Plan Discounts And Eligibility Requirements

Republic Wireless's phone plan pricing is pretty simple.  Regular subscribers pay $15/month for unlimited talk and text.  Data is billed at $5/GB.  Data can be added to or removed from a plan at any time.  So if you need 2GB of data one month you can add it to your plan and pay $25 for service that month.  If you only need 1GB of 4G LTE data the next month your phone bill would cost just $20.  If you are a teacher, you'll pay half of that.  Unlimited talk and text will cost you just $7.5/month and data will run you $2.5/GB.  That compares pretty favorably to other cheap plans! Taxes and fees are not included in the price.

The discount pricing is available to K-12 teachers, administrators, and their support staff.  To get the discount, eligible parties must sign up for Republic Wireless's EAP using a valid school email address.  Republic Wireless promises to keep your phone plan discounted through at least May 31, 2020.

Supported Phones

Republic Wireless only supports a handful of phones on its network.  Most unlocked Motorola phones such as the Moto X4 and Motorola G5 can be ported over.  Some Samsung and Alcatel devices are also supported.  Apple iPhones are not supported.  If you don't have a phone of your own to bring over, Republic Wireless sells roughly a dozen different ones that you can choose from.

More About Republic Wireless

Republic Wireless is an MVNO that operates on both the T-Mobile and Sprint networks. Subscribers can choose which network they want to use during the signup process.

Phone service with Republic Wireless is handled a bit different compared to other providers.  Republic Wireless uses a combination of cellular data, WiFi and voice networks to provide you with service. When connected to WiFi your calls are placed over a combination of WiFi and cellular data networks.  The MVNO's technology essentially blends the different data networks together to provide you with a superior call quality experience.  When your not in range of WiFi, calls go out over a cellular network.  Republic Wireless also offers voice roaming.
