I’m looking today at the FreedomPop website, and there’s no $49 annual service plan listed among their offerings, which overall are vastly more expensive than the supposed $4 a month equivalent annual plan.

Beyond that, when I was a “free” service subscriber of theirs in the past, it was never really free. They always required a credit deposit balance to be paid against your account in the event you went beyond the free plan’s use limits, and that balance if not used would lapse periodically and have to be renewed, and then in addition, they’d regularly/monthly make small charges against my bank card on file with them supposedly to verify that the card/account was still active.

But the most annoying thing about FreedomPop when I subscribed to their GSM service up thru late 2019, was that they only way you could make calls or send SMSs using their service was via their own FP app — you couldn’t use your phone’s native dialer or SMS apps to make or receive calls and SMSs. Everything had to go thru the FP app, which I grew to hate!

Can you renew with another card? Or must you give them your payment info? Best Buy has the card on sale for $10 off right now, but I think the prepaid plan is attached to the sim card. No idea how to work around this. My buddy uses Tracfone and can buy a new prepaid card whenever and it just tacks another year of service on the end. I can’t seem to find this option with FP, I hope I’m missing something!

That is 1000 minutes per YEAR. It’s 1GB per month, though.

I know this page says that BYOD Sprint phones are compatible with FreedomPop, but is this offer good for those phones or just GSM phones?

Will an iPhone SE (currently AT&T) work with this $50 a year plan?

Still does not appear to be available. I cannot locate a 1GB/mo or 2GB/mo plan for a SIM (in my BYOD iPhone) that bills annually from FP. It would be nice to have such a plan offered.
